Creating, Editing and Deleting a News Article

News articles can be added to the website through either the Master Menu, or through a specific Team/League Control Panel. News Articles added from the Master Menu will be added to the main page of the site.

News articles added through the Team/League Control Panel are only viewable on the home page of that Team/League. The process for adding News Articles is the same, whether from the Master Menu or a specific Control Panel.


The News Article Slider works best with images that are 680 x 295 pixels.  The News Slider can hold five articles (with photos) at once. Older articles can be viewed in the "Recent Headlines" section. All News Articles can be found in the "News Archive" menu item if enabled.

 



HOW TO.....CREATE A NEWS ARTICLE

  1. From the Master Menu, or specific Control Panel, under Communication Tools, click "Add-Edit-Delete News Article".
  2. Enter the title or your article. The title will appear in large bold text as the header of the article.
  3. Enter the date the article is posted. The default is the current date.
  4. Articles are listed on the public and admin side in decreasing chronological order.
  5. Enter a brief summary of the article. If you leave the summary field blank it will auto populate with text from the description box up to a certain number of characters. This is a feature built in so that the summary field is not left blank. The summary appears as a caption of the title, briefly summarizing the contents of the article.
  6. You can upload a photo from your hard drive. The file size limit is 4MB. If you would like the article to appear in the Scrolling News Slider, you will need to enter a photo. If you do not have the Scrolling News Article featue, you can email support@goalline.ca to get information on how to add it.
  7. Click the "choose file" button to open a file upload window.
  8. Choose the picture from your hard drive.
  9. Enter a caption to appear below the photo in the photo caption field.
  10. In the description box, type in the body of your article. The text in the description box will appear exactly the same on the public side of the website.
  11. Select email recipients of the news article (if desired). As long as the email fields for these entries are populated, an email can be sent to the individuals.
  12. Click "Save" and it will post your article on the website, and email the article to the selected group or persons (if desired).

 


HOW TO.....EDIT A NEWS ARTICLE

  1. To edit a news article, you will need to do so from the Master Menu or Control Panel that it was added from.
  2. Click "Add-Edit-Delete News Article".
  3. Click "Edit" beside the article you want to modify.
  4. Make the changes in the various fields.
  5. Click "Save" to update the article.

HOW TO...DELETE NEWS ARTICLES

  1. To delete a news article, you will need to do so from the Master Menu or Control Panel that it was added from.
  2. Click "Add-Edit-Delete News Article".
  3. Click "Delete News Articles" located above list of news articles. A list of News Articles will be displayed.
  4. Click the button next to the news articles you want deleted. Multiple news articles can be selected.
  5. Once the news articles are selected click “Delete Checked".


Note: You can not add attachments or video to a news article.
