This video explains how to use the Import Players Tool in your GOALLINE powered website, to import multiple players into the system at once.

To Import Players Using a CSV File

  1. Go to Master Menu - People Tab - Import Players.
  2. Download the sample file by clicking the "Click here to view a sample spreadsheet" link under the save button. This will download a csv file on your computer. Open this in excel to view the spreadsheet.
  3. Each player should be entered in their own row. First Name, Last Name and Birthdate columns are mandatory. All other columns are optional and columns you do not intend to use can be removed.
  4. If you would like to import players directly on to a team enter the team name under "Current Team". If the same team name is used throughout the site enter the league name and team name.
  5. Once the file is updated select your "Birthdate" column and ensure that all of these dates are formatted consistently.
  6. Save the file as a .csv (Comma delimited) file to your computer. (CSV Windows if using a Mac)
  7. Go back to Master Menu - People Tab - Import Players.
  8. Click the "Choose File" button and browse your computer for the file.
  9. Once uploaded you will need to match all of your columns.
  10. Once your columns are matched then you will need to match your teams if you used the "Current Team" column.
  11. Once complete your players will be added to the site and it will confirm how many players are added.

Note: If importing player heights they must be in inches or in this format: 6'1

Tip! When using excel, format date columns as YYYY-MM-DD quickly and easily. The date format in your file must be consistent for all records in the file.

    1. Highlight the column where the date is listed
    2. Select the "Data" tab from your excel tools
    3. Select "Text-to-Columns"
    4. In the window that pops up, select Delimited and click next
    5. Select "Tab" as the delimiter and click next
    6. Select the radio button for Date
    7. Use the drop down to select the format your date is currently in
    8. Click finish
    9. Your date format will update to YYYY-MM-DD

Please Note: Players imported via csv are automatically subscribed to system emails.
